1. Protection against damage or contamination by micro-organisms, air, moisture and toxins
2. Prevention of product spilling or leaking
3. Product Identification and Labeling
4. Marketing of Product to Consumers
When it comes to food packaging, one important part of it is to source plastic containers that meet the packaging requirements of the food product. They need to meet all physical, chemical or biological needs depending on the product. Plastic food containers and other packaging materials for food need to be monitored and tested regularly for best performance. Liners become utterly important in food packaging because leaks and spills are too common. Popular liners are heat seal induction liners (for best protection), then pressure sensitive liners and foam liners. Liners go inside the cap and adds a seal to your food packaging. Don't forget about labeling.. Nutrition, ingredients and sell-by dates are important for both the grocery stores and today's health aware consumers. Parkway plastics offers decorating add-ons such as silk screening and pad printing. Last but not least, don't forget to market your product with packaging that stands out so that your new food product sells faster than your competition!

If the baby food is in a plastic jar, make sure the plastic jar is FDA approved. You can also check if the plastic jar is BPA Free. Those are two good things to research. A quick thing that you can check is the number of the plastic in the bottom on the jar. The number indicates the plastic material used for production and manufacturing of the jar. If the bottom of the jar either say Polypropylene PP (5), LDPE (4), HDPE (2) or PETE (1), it's usually Food Safe (if FDA approved). If the food is in a Glass jar, it's also most likely safe. If you are still wondering if the jar of your baby food is safe, contact the brand of the baby food.
