MakeUp-in New York 2016 Trade Show Event

September may be the month of cosmetic trade shows in New York. First In-Cosmetics North America and Makeup-in NewYork on the same days last week, and then PCD - Packaging of Perfume cosmetics and design with Aerosol and dispensing forum this week. But let's talk about Makeup-in NewYork now.

With over 2800 visitors, Makeup-in NewYork turned out to be another year of show success. This was the show's 6th year, and was followed by an increase of 15 % in attendance from previous year. What kicked off in Paris years ago, started in New York six years back.
So what is the Makeup-in NewYork Show about? Well, It's a B2B event that showcases new makeup products and focuses on new trends in cosmetics, makeup and beauty.

It sure was crowded!

Makeup-in NewYork claims to be the only & unique Business to Business Makeup Event in America. The venue, Center 458, is a traditional New York Building = many floors & a slow elevator. But it carries a lot of charm. The fact that it's NOT re-done makes it a great venue for shows, because you feel like you're getting the real NYC experience.

Makeup-In NewYork showcased makeup products, supplies and cosmetics packages for brands, professionals, and businesses. The trade show featured brands in beauty, makeup, full service companies and beauty packaging manufacturers and suppliers on the three floors of the building.

One booth had hired a makeup artist to attract attention, and other booths were seen to privately celebrate with champagne, whereas most booths came of as just any other booth. It was crowded, busy and fun.

Conveniently located at the entrance of one of the exhibiting floors, the Beauty Packaging Magazine team with Jay Gorga and Jamie Matusow, gladly handed me a copy of Beauty Packaging's September Issue - the September issue that Parkway is in!

I also bumped into Jean Yves Bourgeois, one of the co-founders of the show from Paris when we both were on our way up to the next floor. He explained that they hold the Makeup-in Shows in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, and Sao Paulo. And that if interested in exhibiting, anyone should contact him directly for the best exhibiting price.

In-Cosmetics and Makeup-in New York

The In-cosmetics show that launched this year (read more about that show here), had partnered up with the Makeup in NewYork show, so I flew in a cab from one show to another - across the city from each other.

So how were these two shows different from each other? I would venture to say that Makeup-In NewYork focused more on the finished makeup product in contrast to the in-cosmetics show which focused on ingredients and the formula of the cosmetic product. The fact that these two shows partnered up this year was in my opinion, a good idea, but it would have been even better if the shows were located closer to each other. And not a 30 minute taxi ride from each other.
