Have you ever wondered why hot dogs are sold 10 to a pack and hot dog buns are only sold 8 to a pack? According to Huffpost.com's blog, The Blog, "Meatpackers sell by the pound and most hotdogs weigh a tenth of a pound. [Where as] Buns are typically baked in eight roll pans." The author comments, "I have no idea why the manufacturers haven’t gotten together on this. But if you need them to come out even... purchase five bags of the 8 pack buns and four of the 10 pack hotdogs you will break even." 

As crazy as it sounds, for years, that was the same with Parkway's products. Take our 8 ounce 89 mm Straight Sided Single Wall, "Regular Wall" Plastic Jar for example...

Our 8 oz 89mm Regular Wall Polypro Jars are packed 300 pieces per box. Where as, the 89mm caps that fit those jars are packed 504 per box. If you needed an equal number of jars and caps you would need to buy 42 full boxes of jars and 25 full boxes of caps. This is a perfectly acceptable for many of our end users who are buying in bulk or for wholesale stocking distributors, but for others, who only need smaller quantities this just sounds crazy. 

Similar to the hot dog / hot dog bun industries, we also have our reasons for packing our jars and caps the way that we do. We make many different jars and many different caps and not all jar case counts are the same... Why in the 89 mm jar series alone, we manufacture 19 different jars with 19 different case packs. 

That being said though, that doesn't make it any less frustrating for customers who just want to buy plast jars and caps together in one box. 

Well after hearing that over and over for 65 years, we have finally evolved!
