As I headed for the airport in the dead of night, I couldn't have been more excited. This was going to be my first time traveling to the world famous "ATL" and I couldn't think of a better excuse to go to this world famous and socially important city - birth place of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement - than to go to the event known world wide in barbering and beauty circles as "Bronner Brothers."
I am excited to say that Bronner Brothers 2017 didn't disappoint! Color, Glitter, Gloss and Glam were abound. Everywhere you turned the music was pumping and the demonstrators were presenting their version of ordinary to extraordinary. It was magnificent and awe inspiring! It was also fun to see that the bling wasn't reserved for the woman either. The barbers and barbering competitions were equally as inspiring as the woman's cut and color offs.
It was exciting to see the amount of natural and organic products at the show as well because while I love hair color and product as much as the next girl, as a consumer I am also equally concerned about my body and about what I am putting in it and on it. It was fun and educational to speak to the exhibitors - many of whom were the inventors, creators or marketing moguls behind their products. I loved hearing about what they were doing and they seemed equally excited to hear about the 100% BPA and Phalate Free Plastic Jar and Cap Plastic Packaging solutions that Parkway Plastics had to offer.

It seemed like there was no shortage of opportunities for products in plastic jars and caps. There were hundreds of products for men, women, and kids; products for African hair; products for mixed hair, thick and curly hair, course hair, natural hair and thinning hair; products used in salons.
There were also products used by barbers for barbering and the art of shaving such as shaving creams, gels, soaps, lotions, relaxers, pomades, gels, guck, styling gel, styling paste, styling putty and more all in plastic jars and caps! Not to mention products that were still in development, yet to be thought up, dreamed up or developed yet.
The opportunities to work together with these amazing salon owners, barbers and the marketing companies with their product jars and caps and plastic containers and packaging seemed endless, which was exactly why I was there.

Bronner Brothers - A Success Story
In addition to hosting the largest multi-cultural beauty show in the United states, according to their website, Bronner Brothers' multi-million dollar enterprise consists of Bronner Bros. Beauty Products including BB, African Royale, 4Naturals, Tropical Roots and NuExpressions, UPSCALE Magazine, Bronner Bros. International Beauty Shows, Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral and The Ark of Salvation. Bronner Bros. employs over 300 full time and part time staff members, operates two manufacturing and shipping facilities. Their corporate headquarters are located in Marietta, GA.
Bronner Brothers was started in 1947 by Nathaniel and Arthur Bronner, with the help of their sister, Emma Bronner, as a way to teach cosmetology at the local YMCA. About 300 people attended the first show but as the attendance grew, it was moved to the Royal Peacock Social Club and then to the Auburn Avenue Casino.[3] In 1967, Bronner Bros. signed a contract with the new Hyatt Regency Hotel and the show was held there annually for the next 20 years. During this time, the Bronners secured a number of popular guest speakers, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Jackie Robinson, Dick Gregory and Dr. Benjamin Mays.[4]
With Nathaniel Bronner, Sr's death in 1993, Bernard Bronner took over the company as president and CEO and the trade show has continued to grow by leaps and bounds. In 1996, all Bronner Bros. delegates traveled to Orlando, Florida for a large conference. The annual trade show is now held in the prestigious Georgia World Congress Center. As of 2015, the Bronner Bros. International Beauty Show was the largest gathering of multicultural beauty professionals in the U.S., pulling in 22,000 attendees and 300 exhibitors.[5]
More and more Bronner family members are getting involved in the company. There were two brothers in the first generation of the business,[4] six brothers in the second generation, the third generation now has 30 members.[6]
Bernard Bronner was also a partner in Rainforest Films, which produced films targeting an urban audience and featuring African-American talent, until the company was formally dissolved in 2014.[7] Rainforest's filmography includes Stomp the Yard, The Gospel, Pandora's Box, This Christmas, and Takers.

Despite the fact that the flight left at 5am in the morning, the other passengers that I ran into who were heading down to Hotlanta for this world famous event and competition were as excited as I was! For some this would be their first time at Bronner Brothers, where others were veterans of the event. Regardless though, they all felt that Bronner Brothers was the place to be and to be seen this weekend.
All of them were eagerly anticipating celebrity sightings and the chances to pose with and learn from world famous celebrity stylist, actors, performers and fashion icons such as Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Demetria McKinney, Keyshia Cole, Kim Hawthorne, Yandy Smith, Kountry Wayne and more :

With just a few years of professional experience, Shekinah has already struck celebrity status and is a rising star in the Beauty & Entertainment Industry. The Atlanta native realized her passion for styling, at the age of 12 when she spent most of her time braiding hair for friends and family.
